Gretchen Espina, thanks for winning the competition. You gave us a victory. You have proven that the crappy show needs a crappy winner. And congrats for being the crappy winner that the GMA 7 franchise deserved.

What I think about the FINALE?

Crappy. Walang flow. The best of night was Kid's part na naagawan ng spotlight even si Robby Navarro at Luke Mijares.

The winning song is a mess. Parang refrain and chorus repeat 5 times! Dut. dut.

The finale. Walang grandiose. Walang thrill. Walang pizzazz. Parang auditions lang ng Philippine Idol.

Crappy ang nanalo. Wala man lang performances ang TOP 12! I mean yung isa-isa. I am hoping for solos like Kid and Mr. Basil Valdez, Penelope and Ms. Regine Velasquez or Daryl with Ogie Alcasid man lang.

In fairness, siya lang ang may kinda Idol feel tonight. Yung dalawa kasi parang pre-Finals lang. As usual, hindi pa rin kagalingan si Gretchen pero siya ang may better performances tonight.

Round 1: For Your Eyes Only

Mababa ang arrangement pero parang pang 5th runner-up sa isang Pinoy Pop Superstar Finale. So okay na din. BWAHAHAHA.

Round 2: Stand on Love

It suited her. Though the arrangement was adjusted again, it was kinda good to hear her voice na medyo lumalaban. She might've prepared for this well.

Round 3: Ngayon

UP Manila Madrigal Singers. Haha. Dati, lahat ng finalists may chorale sa likod. If I'm not mistaken sa Philippine Idol eh mas marami pa at mas professional. Her performance is not a WINNER! pero okay na din compared sa other two.

And that's what Wyngard wanted for her. Kid Camaya's version was way better. Hindi nga ka-LSS LSS ang version ni Jayann eh. Pweh. Very ordinary. Flats and notes are all over the place. She's very very nervous.

Walang panama kay Jordin Sparks. Very shaky performance. Disappointing even if she has a very powerful voice.

Round 3: Proud Mary

For the final song and supposed to be a winning song, congratulations for picking a dance act. That was so lame. It's not impressive. It's not a winning moment type of song.

And again, if you win. You're still a loser. You won a crappy contest. Don't be too happy.

Forgive me for such a crappy post for a crappy show for a crappy final three. Everything's crappy. I'm gearing myself up for a crappy Finale tomorrow. I am not expecting much. I can predict though, that there won't be any performance that would make my hair rise. That means, no one's worth the win.

The Biliran Princess Gretta is in the Top 3! Congratulations to us! And now, what a way to end the competition but to give the show a worthy winner. CRAPPY SHOW=CRAPPY WINNER and who could be the best option but GRETCHEN ESPINA.

The show does not deserve to have Jayann Bautista as the winner. Let's add another singing contest in the roster of her losses. After all, she's a hustler in losing these type of contests, isn't she?

Not Ram, 'cause we know that GMA 7 has been pimping him for the crown. Its because they want a DAVID COOK counterpart.

But it would be a great Finale! Imagine GRETCHEN singing MANANG BIDAY or ITIK ITIK SA MANILA ZOO would be such a delight. Imagine her singing in front of the two hundred people that will fit in SMX Convention Center 'cause the show can't afford to fill up the Araneta Coliseum.

I imagine her dress. Oh! Her dress. And that make-up of hers that doesn't even compliment her icky facial expressions. Ilukot mo pa ang mukha mo 'day!

I am sooo excited 'cause she's gonna be representing us in Asian Idol. I can imagine her doing a Phuong Vy! She's not even beautiful as Phuong is! But she's equally as lame, or must I say, Phuong Vy is even better than her!

Whack 5: Best Performance Aye?

The Greatest Idol Performance night proved to be dismaying. Here's a recap of tonight's episode.

Daryl Celis sang The Promise and proved that he's worthy to be in the top five. His performance is plain and smooth but it lacked the intensity.

Taking on Fantasia's broadway hit I'm Here is our worster, Gretchen Espina who even cried right after her performance. She murdered the song. She even asked for the arrangement to be lowered 'cause she simply can't reach the notes. It was boring, a mess in the middle part and ended quite okay. But her notes are all over the place!

Kid Camaya was the third to perform. Despite his being paos tonight, he made the best out of it. He had a great performance except for the slightly-sablay falsettos (since paos nga sya). All in all, it was the best performance of the night. He sang Careless Whisper and he did pretty well given his condition.

Jayann was dismaying this night. Her intro had sharps and flats. Her mid-part was boring. And she added too much "style" that made the performance OA. She kind of disappoints people since she's expected to deliver well because this is her domain. She sang Fergie's Finally.

The last to perform was Ramboo who told the people "sa mga naninira sa akin sa internet, salamat!", I feel like he was looking at me. Kebs. Anyway. His eyes popped out na naman. And he did the Bamboo Bamboo puto maya again so it was sooo predictable. Not spectacular. Just that his performance was enjoyable since it is an upbeat song.

Here I go again, on bashing mode. Thank God, this time Pinoy Idol managed to give us a recap of the ~~Top~~ Whack-o 7. Let's bash, shall we?

The judges were a bit okay tonight. Raymond is an eyesore. Karylle f*cked up. The bands looked like fangirls supporting the Idols murdering their original songs. And a bunch of so-so singers wanting to be the next Jonalyn Viray!

Better Performers

Jayann Bautista. Akin Ka Na Lang.
She will be the Pinoy Idol and GMA's pawn against their flop Pinoy Pop Superstar "grand" champion Mariciris. Anyhoo, Jayann's better and has been versatile enough. I am so excited to see her doing a Phuong Vy on Asian Idol 2008.

Kid Camaya. Stay.
I am a bit shocked that it's going to be Cueshe' that he's performing tonight. I hate the band. I hate the song. Maybe because its vocalist is much more of a percussionist than a vocal genius. But Kid made me like the song, he made it his own. At the peak of the song, it was very moving, it felt classy, not cheap, like Cueshe'. It was awesome but still, boring.

Daryl Celis. Nasaan K
It was a bit of a surprise. He did well. Vocally, it was so-so. Again, this guy will make the cut tomorrow, because of his looks and because he did way better than he was expected to.

So-so Performers.

Penelope. Weak.
Nothing extraordinary. I am actually tired of listening at her with these types of songs. Let's say she really has a unique voice but I she would be better off with songs that can prove her versatility. This one's deteriorating.

Ram Chaves. Sandalan
Undeniably, Ram has good chances of winning, NOT because of his popping eyes and freaky dance moves. And when I say freaky, it is damn freaky. He's stubborn. Until now, he's still doing the Bamboo thing and it's ick-y.

The Worse.

Gretchen Espina. Ikaw Lang Ang Aking Mahal.
Little Princess Gretchen sang the song oozing with confidence and terrible vocals. One of her better performances but still wasn't enoguh.

Warren Antig. Kahit Kailan.
He ruined the song and that's why he's still our pick for the worst. Good job! Warren Barren. See you next round!

We Say Goodbye to Sue Ellen

Unlike the usual recap or crappy rant post, here's an essay by MidwayHeaven about the Demise of the Franchise, Pinoy Idol. We are appealing to Fremantle Media that the franchise be returned to ABC 5 for next year.

The Demise of the Franchise

As I write this, Pinoy Idol fan blogs all over the country are celebrating the elimination of Sue Ellen, a 16-year old singer from Iloilo City. Though she was only the fourth among the traditional twelve finalists, Sue Ellen nevertheless outlasted two others, namely Mae and Robby, who were considered fan favorites in the show.

Despite the fact that she was, indeed, a poor singer, Sue Ellen's elimination only reflects the dismal state of the current Idol franchise in the Philippines. The sad fact is that fans are scrounging around, looking for a so-called "winner," from a remaining group of amateur singers who obviously lack the necessary talent to be considered "Idols." The "Idol" franchise, as its name implies, is meant to give young DESERVING people the chance to live not only as stars but as BIG stars-celebrities cheered on by the world that sees them as ideals, surrounded by the opulence of the age, looking forward to a bright future gilded in fame and fortune. I don't see this promise with the poor contestants on Pinoy Idol, however, as week by week the production slowly yet surely morphs into glorified yet sorry excuse for a karaoke contest slash personality pageant with a multicolor stage, a projected backdrop and flashing lights.

This was, of course, not always so: in 2006, the ABC network managed, despite their relative diminutiveness, to pull off an Idol season that was relatively good to watch. Though the glitches were visible and ABC was rather new at staging a big-budget production such as this, the small network's attempt at slicing off a piece of the network war pie through Philippine Idol was commendable.

For legal reasons Fremantle decided to bail Idol out from ABC and instead award it to GMA, whose entertainment department wasted no time exploiting ABC's legal right to the name "Philippine Idol" and instead marketing "Pinoy Idol," in effect turning a blind eye on everyone and everything that the first show stood for. To call their own Idol franchise "the first" and to deny the existence of Philippine Idol is an abominable insult, not only to the good folk at ABC who worked really hard to build a great accomplishment, but also to the first winner Mau Marcelo, who had all the right to rant about the indignity that befell her fate. Fostering bad blood is, apparently, perfectly in line with GMA's ethic to "put God above all things," as their corporate vision states.

As a side note, comparing GMA's Pinoy Idol with its superior American counterpart is a moot point; though not the first of the franchise, American Idol will of course always be superior to other Idol shows, especially here. It would always be interesting however to compare Philippine Idol with Pinoy Idol, but there's not enough space for that discussion at the moment. I could go on with the visual production, of how the stage today looks no better than the one used for GMA's other weeknight singing contest. I could go one with the sound production, of how the system today doesn't match to fit listeners' ears. I could talk of the host, of how he today looks stiff and bloated like a talking corpse pumped with helium-instead I refer to you to the dozens of blogs out there who have a way of expressing The Bitch better than I do when it comes to comparison of these two seasons.

One thing that comes into mind with Philippine Idol however was how ABC was gracious enough to present a special non-competitive concert entitled "Kakaibang Idol," where the most interesting contestants who were eliminated early in the show were given one more chance to perform live on stage. My personal favorites were the red-dyed girl who sang the "Voltes V" theme and Yhova, the young man who not only looked like a woman but also sang like one. This not only boosted the popularity of these one-night-only singers, but also proved that ABC had a good sense of humor, and didn't take their piece of the Idol franchise too seriously, and for that I am totally grateful. I seriously doubt if GMA would do a similar show, but to totally shut out these pre-top 12 gems is simply a shame.

"Idol" hinges on the three people everybody calls "judges," who are chosen based on their credibility and experience in the music industry. I am sorry to say that out of Pinoy Idol's three judges, I find two of them absolutely appalling. Firstly, a person who knows nothing of Jolina Madangal will find it useless discovering her so-called musical credibility, because the vocabulary she spouts seems limited to different inane ways of belching the word "winner." Secondly, Wyndgard Tracy seems hell-driven to imitate Simon Cowell, right down to the way he snorts. If there was one good advice that Fremantle gave to the ABC judges, it was to "be themselves," advice which actually worked. Now however, to have these two GMA judges choose the person that millions of young people would look up to as an ideal is simply a travesty, and a reflection of what the "better part" of the TV entertainment industry in the Philippines is really all about: people with no brains pretending to have brains.

With all of what's happened to the franchise, it comes as no surprise that powerful internet bloc voters would rather visit websites such as "Vote for the Worst," which made world headlines by pushing American Idol's Sanjaya Malakar all the way up to the top 6 or so, pushing off agreeably better singers. Pinoy Idol apparently reeks so bad, it has to contend with not one but THREE local versions of Vote for the Worst, all of which die hard fan sites have viciously blamed for dumping Mae and Robby while keeping Sue Ellen.

I don't have to rant about the big errors that GMA's entertainment department did with the show; again, the blogs out there would do that for me. Why, for example, are voting lines open BEFORE the contestants even get on the stage? GMA is of course quick to deny they committed mistakes, and instead they point their fingers at Fremantle Media whenever fans discover shortcomings about Pinoy Idol's production. Well, aren't they precious. Flaunting itself as a network giant, shouldn't GMA have the common sense to think like one, too?

If I were to exactly pinpoint when Pinoy Idol stopped being a deserving franchise, it would have to be the time when the stage producer threatened to inflict a wave of plastic butterflies on stage, a move which no doubt would have forced the president to declare a state of emergency. No such gaiety came to pass, however, as we have to instead contend with a massive plastic rainbow looming over the huddled masses at SM Mall of Asia. Now rumors are spreading that rival network ABS-CBN is recruiting Idol castoffs into their fold, probably even pariah Sue Ellen, especially since TFC has recently shown video tidbits of the Australian Idol auditions. ABS-CBN taking Idol and naming it something like, oh, "Filipino Idol," does nothing but make the franchise even more pathetic than it already is. I prefer its return to ABC, were it not for the legalities that the small network has to go through.

For the moment I stick to my conviction that the franchise has met an untimely demise, assassinated by the same people who promised to make it better than the one that has passed. Meanwhile GMA probably already has plans for a second Idol season (I prefer to call it the third), and will most likely stand by its own clichéd conviction that it isn't over until the fat lady sings. The problem is, GMA's entertainment department probably doesn't like fat ladies on stage-and Wyndgard can't sing, anyway.

Whack 9: No Bird Shall Fly Today.

Even the songbird can't fly today. It was, as expected a dismaying night.

Even Regine Velasquez' guesting didn't help the lame show! We saw nine mediocre singers who can be proud of themselves singing better than Jolina Magdangal or Wyngard Tracy. They're performances didn't even level off with Regine's greatness.

Jayann started the night with Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka. Nothing very phenomenal with the performance. Jayann has a really good voice, she can very well beat Maricris Garcia or Jonalyn Viray, if that's what GMA's standard is.

It's such a surprise for Shniffer the Sniffer Rei to sing You Made Me Stronger. He had a shaky start but a flawless ending. Again, so-so.

We have a very nervous Penelope in the stage singing What Kind of Fool I Am. It was Penelope's worst performance. Notes are all over the place. Messed up and murdered performance.

Daryl Celis gave a simple, plain performance which gave all the girls (and gays) out there an opportunity to drool and sip what's left of his charismatic and macho personality. He did well. It was better than his other performances and I must agree, may kilig factor. I think that Daryl might really make it. He might not be the best singer but he is an effortless performer.

I am again, disappointed with the way they're downplaying Kid Camaya. I don't know why they keep on magnifying the "boring" performance but wouldn't want to emphasize on him being the best singer and vocalist of the competition. Kid sang Narito Ako with feelings and with such soul that really makes him worthy of the Idol title.

Pinoy Idol has much to offer towards the end. Four Lagpak singers. *yawns*

We have Princess Gretchen of Biliran who sang Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang. She did fairly well. But still, no wow factor.

I must say this is my favorite Ramboo performance. It's not overacting. It emphasizes his voice more. His Bamboo antics are lessened too. But still, dissatisfying.

This is my favorite performance of Sue "The Chihuahua" Ellen so far. She added R&B feel on Dadalhin. It felt inconsistent though. She was nervous and the performance was shaky from start to end.

And our favorite Warren Antig gave us a reggae version of Urong Sulong. It was good 'cause the arrangement was pleasant. It was one of the better performances of the week.

Whack 10: Wyngard Wyndang!

Now, some of Wyndard Trapo's comments are really off. Especially when he commented on Kid's performance as of a highschool rendition. WTF! What happened to your ears Wyngard? It's not even reverse psychology. It'd probably because Rhian Ramos kissed this guy and Kid never didn't do what you wanted him to do! He doesn't deserve the criticism you gave him, and he was even the best of the night! Darn.

So here's my recap.

RAMboo started with a bang. Good performance. Hate his antics. Next, please.

Gretchen bored me to death. And I'd be certainly seeing her in the competition next week since she's gonna get lots of votes, yet again.

Sue-huahua Uling. The chihuahua she is, Sue improved this week and I think she's better with these type of songs and of course, chipmunks and M2M songs. But really even if she improved, she still doesn't deserve the Idol title, vocals-wise.

One of the surprises of the evening is Shniffer the Rocker. Yea, he rocked "Its My Life". Well, its assumed that he's gonna do good with a rock song. He had a flawless performance but still, boring.

Classiness, flawlessness and total package is what Jayann's offering to the viewers. Jayann is clearly one of those who're to beat. She also has a huge fanbase so she'll probably last until Final 6. Jayann though, lacks stage presence :-)

Lintek na judges 'yan! Mukha nang hinihingal at hinahabol ng kabayo si Robby! Nagustuhan pa din ang performance ni Shnobby "GASPY" Navarro. Super off at overdone ang kinanta niya. Hindi na style 'yun eh! Sumosobra na! And I don't think the quitting drama was true. Planted. Idol wants drama. But viewers don't like fake drama, do we?

Well, Penelope's very likable. She made the song her own, yada-yada. She can win the whole thing. Though may flats and medyo pumalya at some parts, Penelope's still one of the best this round.

Kid Camaya is currently the most underrated Idol contestant. He has the voice of an angel. Though his personality's kinda weak, he definitely has the best vocals of the remaining ten. Kid is actually the best singer of the competition and never fail to touch me when he sings! So, shut up kay Wyngard! Nakakawindang ang comment mo kay Kid! It was flawless, heartfelt and soulful. Best performance of the night goes to Kid. Dahil mukhang ayaw ka ng Idol staff, we'll support you and whore you as much as they whore Shnobby Navarro! Ampft!

Warren is the best candidate for the worst. I hope he won't go home tomorrow. But I think he'll be in the bottom group, once again.

Daryl is Daryl. He is again out of control. He picked a good song but this week, his performance is nothing but trash.

And it sucks to watch PI without Mae Flores and Jeni Rawolle.

And the Superstar Fell: Mae Flores is Out

I am disappointed, pissed and dismayed. Tonight's results were okay, if not for the inclusion and the deliberate exit of Mae Flores. And with that, we're down to eight chipmunks, Kid Camaya and Jayann Bautista.

Even your worster has bets and sadly, most of them are gone now. That includes Meryl, Jeni, Regene and JJ Jr. and Mae.

Mae has been consistent since Top 16. She's my bet since she sang with Regene at SMX (I Will Survive). She is actually a darkhorse to win it. She might not have the same excellent performance last night, she has given us one of the two best performances the show has given us so far.

Mae should have made it through. Warren and Toffer consistently gave us bad performances the past four weeks! Well, I'm kinda happy that Warren stayed proving the effectivity of VFTW to influence people.

My final take: Pinoy Idol is downright pitiful. It is hopeless and won't, in any way, produce the best singer of the country, nor of the competition. Well, unless Kid Camaya or Penelope wins. You might see me whoring Kid Camaya's name to and fro here at my site. It is because he deserves the space. Mae Flores also has the best chance to hit it in the competition. She can actually beat some of the Champions but she lost and she's not Idol material (just because she lacked votes, or did she?).

I think... Robby and Ram will be GMA's Pinoy Idol Final 2 and I don't get it. Good luck to GMA 7. And now that Mae's gone... we can help ABC 5 to slam on GMA how whack the latter's edition is! Vote for the Worst! Support Warren Antig, Sue Ellen, Gretchen Espina, Daryl Celis and Toffer Rei! Robby and Ram should have been included in the "worst" list but they're too liked by GMA (that they're defaulted as Final 2 already) so we're not voting for them anymore. We want GMA 7 unhappy, right? :-)

As to Kid, Penelope and Jayann: You three are the remaining "okay" finalists and I am encouraging people to vote for you, too. Well, for those who won't want their votes wasted.

Finals: Pinoy Idol Top 11 Recap

We're down to eleven. We saw some improvements with the lightings, the stage, the set and the judges becoming a little bit relevant. But still, we're down to eleven sucky singers. No one got the 'excellent' thing once again. No one even make me smile. A lot made me laugh. And here's your most-awaited bashing recap.

And to add to the whackness of the show, they still can't pick a genre to theme their gala night and after their option "My Greatest Performance" comes this week's theme, "I Sing This Song For..." Looks like Formal Theme no. Whatsoever to me. And elementary years haunts me...

Tonight, we start with Fred Flintstone introducing us the Whack 11. We start the night with the one who can only sing Filipino rock songs. Murdering the enunciation of every word of the song You Give Love A Bad Name, I can say that yes, you gave the song a bad rendition. Warren looked too skippy and hoppy and high with his annoying smile. He's just entertaining to watch as he makes a fool of himself.

We then go to Penelope who sang it for Jayann. How cheesy. And she sang So Sick. Again, she did well, but then again, it would be harder to notice since she doesn't improve much per week. Its actually nice that she chose an upbeat song this week proving her versatility but its not where she does her best. I am still hoping for another Wild Horses type of performance because in this point in time, she's not in my Top 2 list na.

Mae Flores did an outstanding job last time. She maximized the time alloted to her which in turn earned praises from the judges and the viewers. This was proved by her being not in the bottom three last round. This week, she did If I Didn't Love You. She sang with promise, and she sang well. My only problem were at some points in her chorus that it felt like pasigaw. But overall, she's still in the top half of the list. I just expected her to deliver another close-to-wow performance after last week's.

One of the better performances of the night came from Rachelle Ann Go's bestfriend Jayann. I mean, "do you really have to attach your name with Rachelle to get votes and to be noticed?" She dances well. And she doesn't get off-tuned while dancing. She doesn't loses power while doing everything. She just has to be convenient and confident with the stage. She performed all these at the back part of the stage! I could have appreciated it more if she made use of the space more.

Shniffer Rei's performances are dwindling down week per week. And I can see him getting eliminated soon.

It's a good thing Daryl Celis chose a Filipino song and sang it for his grandmother. It seemed heartfelt and might just save him for another week. It is definitely his best by far.

Gretchen Espina improved quite a bit this week. But still, it's nothing much compared to those who sang the song before. In short, for the nth time, nothing special. And a request to her stylist, cut her bangs already! It's irritating.

Shnobby Navarro gave a good performance. Minus the annoying kulots which I think made the performance "overdone", it was really good. I just find it hard not to laugh predicting line after line, that he'll sing it with an "i-yi-iiii-yiii" again. And the legend continues until the "repeat till fade" part.

Kid Camaya is such a breathe of fresh air. He has the best vocals in the competition. His style is remarkable. Only thing is he lacks personality and sense of fashion style. I don't know with you guys, but I want to hear more of Kid. If you really want an Idol, then he's the best that GMA can battle with ABS' roster of singing champions. Kid has definitely what it takes to be the Pinoy Idol. This round, he sang "I'll Never Love This Way Again" and his rendition was fabulous given the short span of time the show gave to them.

I'm yawning and it means its Ramboo once again. How the hell did the theme of this week's round coincide with Banal na Aso? He sings it to the people of the Philippines and what a song choice!?! Like, who the heck would be touched with such dumb song choice? He doesn't improve. He's still the Bamboo fan we've been seeing since the start and its about time for him to go.

And what a way to end the night! End it with a lame performance like Sue Uling's version of In The End. And as I imagined, she made it her own and added a little Salbakuta feel in it. Not to mention, her piyok at the first part didn't really go out pretty well. She has a unique voice, yes. But I'd rather have her sing chipmunk songs than to be the first Pinoy Idol. I won't mind if she goes next.

Top 11: Song Choice

And we'll see more boring performances, freaky dance moves from Sue Ellen and I imagine her doing a Salbakuta with her song choice for this week. Shniffer Rei would probably mess up his song like what he did the past two weeks. Warren's choosing recycled songs and will defy another worst performance next round. And we'll support him so he ain't going nowhere. Penelope will try to show us how versatile she is but will fail to do that. Mae won't disappoint us this round. Kid will probably win our hearts with his vocals but will bore us to death. Gretchen sang the song that Miguel of PDA sang last round. Nice job picking a song, aye? And we will see Ramboo transform into a Banal na Aso this round. I hope he gets eliminated. I don't get what Pinoy Idol's theme this week.

Lounging Down to 11: JENI Axed

It was another fun-filled night tonight as another good hopeful got booted out of the competition. Jeni Rawolle, the “great lounge singer” lost her battle to be the first Pinoy Idol. Proving that beauty and talent won’t guarantee winning, Jeni has been one of the top competitors of the competition.

Not to mention, Jeni has a good heart too. In fact, she has dropped by in our site the past weeks. Hello there, Jeni! It was a shocking night indeed! Joining Jeni in the bottom group were surviving Chuckie doll Sue Uling and one of the better and versatile competitors, Kid Camaya.

With that, we’re down to ten karaoke singers and a chipmunk. Don’t forget to support Warren Antig next week!

Vote for the Worst Pinoy has been successful in helping Warren stay, and of course we helped Gretchen to stay through to the Final 12! Looks like Toffer’s not that “unfamous” as we think he is, aye? And Ram too, looks like he has some Bamboo fans loyal to him, aye?

Finals: Whack 12 Recap

Horrible lightings. Irrelevant ramblings from the judges. Irritating “Winner!” comments from Jolina.

This pretty much sums up the 1st pre-recorded Gala Night of Pinoy Idol. And tomorrow, after the newly-imposed seventeen-hour text voting (only) votation process, another good performer would be going home.

Tonight, we start the show off with a dismaying performance by the Whack 12. We saw lights everywhere and I mean everywhere! The lights didn’t even compliment the stage design. There’s nothing grandeus with the new set. The technicals did a horrible job, since the arrangements were off and the band can’t be heard vividly.

One minute performances. Lengthen it guys! Get more ads! :-) I advise.

So, Gretchen started off with a bomber song choice and that is Aretha Franklin’s Respect. Yes, dear, you are no Aretha but doing that song takes a lot than what you have. You gave us an incomparable performance. It was way too ordinary that it seemed like it was a baby singing a nursery rhyme. Her facial expressions have improved and she gained lots of confidence this time. I’d give her thumbs up to that.

The next performance was very forgettable. Warren screamed and shouted, as he normally does in his performances, and defies what is worst. And that’s why he’s our pick for the worst this week. Help us in making him stay! That’s IDOL WARREN and send to 2344 or 367.

Sue sang Survivor and we have a new freaky dancer over here. Here’s JJ’s better half. She’s cute and all. She has a unique voice of a singing chuckie doll. And she’ll stay until we get tired of her tiring hand moves and overjumping! If you count how many times she jumped in the opening, you can start now by counting the stars in the sky and after that, count the buhangin in Boracay, ganun karaming beses siya tumalon! And it was irritating.

Shniffer Rei sang another Harem Scarem. He did quite well, but he has to effort more to get lotsa votes. I am predicting he’s gonna be in the bottom group tomorrow.

Recipient of the Jolina “Winner” remark this week, Jayann sang Aretha Franklin’s Natural Woman which was okay. I felt some Idol vibe in it. I’m guessing that if she stays through until the Finals, she might really win.

Kid sang Ordinary People and it was great. Kid’s slowly growing on me. He has the best and most consistent vocals of the remaining ones. He just lacks some personality. That’s it. I think he’s gonna be in the bottom group tomorrow and I hope not.

Daryl gave a way better performance tonight. It even topped Ram’s or Toffer’s. It was so-so for the competition but he way better than he’s expected to do. So far, it’s his best performance.

Someone should start advising Ram to avoid mimicking Bamboo and make a style of his own. He's got no looks nor vocals to match up with Bamboo. He's not gonna win and he's wasting our one minute. Please do boot him out. I think he's gonna be in the bottom group tomorrow.

Jeni had a great performance. Too bad the judges can't hear what I'm hearing. This girl is a lounge singer, yes. But she deserves to be an Idol finalist. She's one of the best as of now. And I think she's in danger. Last two weeks, she's been put up in the bottom group.

Penelope did a good performance but those who improved a lot had gotten more attention than her pretty voice. We know that she has good vocals but she might get unnoticed because lots of the finalists are more beautiful and improving more. I hope he steps her game up a notch higher since I don't want her to waste her |early favorite| advantage. She has the biggest chance to win it. I just hope she doesn't lose just because she chooses a wrong song.

I can't believe that even if Shnobby Navarro fucked up the first part of his song, he got good reviews. Halatang bias ang judges. I do believe that he had a good ending to the song. But some falsetto were off and a lot of notes are all over the place in the first half of the song.

Ending the night is Mae Flores. Mae sang Alanis Morisette's You Oughta Know. It was the only performance I enjoyed and Mae improved so much. I really like her since the start. Now, she's been tagged by Wyngard as a 'star'. Ogie added in an irritating rebuttal that he disagrees, because tonight a 'superstar' is born. Let's see if Mae can pull it off again next week.

Top 12: Who Got Booted?

Apparently, Filipinos are not voting for the worst people anymore. The not-so-top 12 will perform next week at SMX and the Carol Leus and JJ Jr. exited the show this round.

To compete in the Top 12 are Sue Ellen, Jeni Rawolle, Penelope, Jayann Bautista, Gretchen Espina and Mae Flores for the girls; Kid Camaya, Toffer Rei, Warren Antig, Robby Navarro, Daryl Celis and Ram Chaves for the guys.

We're down to twelve mediocre singers and GMA 7's still clueless of what's happening. They have actually booted off possible Idol winners and didn't do anything to prevent it. Poor franchise.

At least, here at Vote for the Worst Pinoy, we're happy to see Gretchen and Warren safe and performing next week.

In the bottom two were Mae Flores and Daryl Celis.

PS: I was actually gonna be in Filmex, Makati today but the rain fell so hard. Good thing kasi ansakit tingnan na natanggal ang dalawang ~~pinakamagaling~~ pinakamahina sa kompetisyon.

Top 7 Male Recap

If there's really someone in the competition who's focused into winning this contest, it's gonna be Kid. His performance tonight didn't even sound Michael Jackson. It's great. Kid has the best vocals among the guys. Kaya lang, he lacks star appeal at medyo plain nga. Kailangan nga ng konting intrigue kaya kinailangang i-magnify ang ~~baklaan~~ banggaan nila ni JJ. The kid should be in the Top 12. :-) Ang sarap niyang pakinggan. Ampangit lang talaga ng leeg niya, no?

Nawawala na ang charms ni Daryl Celis week by week. Pero sa lagay niya this week, he's improving naman kahit papaano. Ayos naman ang dinadagdag niyang kaunting kulot-kulot sa kanta pero hindi nga lang kasi talaga nagkecreate ng impact. Nagbridge na't lahat bored pa din kami. Daryl, bigyan mo naman ng hustisya ang face value mo, para naman may dahilang iboto ka ng mga baklang nagtititili sa iyo!

Nako, ayan na naman si Ramboo! Nakakainis siya dahil may attitude siya at kahit ilang beses na siyang sumasali ng singing contests at di nadidiscover, eh may mukha pa din syang humarap sa TV. Magbago ka naman ng istilo! Para ka kasing cheap version ng mga rakista, David Cook Salbakuta version. Ganun. Wala ka pang appeal, so sa tingin ko matatanggal ka na this week.

Namumuro na si JJ Jr. sa listahan ko. Kaya huwag kayong mabibigla kung ang mahaderang baklitang ito ang susunod na ma-put up after Warren Antig. Nakakatuwa ding tignan at subaybayan ang freaky moves niya sa stage. Nung una, cute ang dating 'nun pero ngayon nakakawalang-ulirat na. Napaka-boring ng performance niya ngayon. Sana pumili na lang siya ng upbeat na song. Sana nakinig na lang ako sa nagvivideoke sa kanto, pareho lang din ang maririnig ko.

Kailangang gawin ang lahat para di manalo si Shnobby Navarro. Nako, nako, nako. Halatang-halata na ang mga judges ay bias. Top 14 pa lang binibuild-up na nila si Robby. Sa lahat ng fans ng remaining guys, papayag ba kayo na isang insecure at plain na lalake lang ang tatalbog sa mga pinagtitilian ninyo? Magaling si Robby pero sobra naman ang pagha-hype ng mga mokong na judges. Si Jolina, nagcomment ka pa? Kung winner lang ang sasabihin mo, sana nag-thumbs up ka na lang ulit! Nagsayang ka pa ng 2 seconds ng buhay namin! Shnobby! Nakakainis na din ang puro iyi-iyi-i mo sa lahat ng syllables ng word sa kanta! Kaya ka nabobotoom three dahil sa pagpapakulot mo ng sobra-sobra eh! Halata ko lang ah, siya lang ang may second voice ah! Pinapaboran ng PI ito ah! Nako, nako. Pilit naman na maging magical ang performance.

Kay Shniffer Rei [*sniff* *sniff*], ayos lang din naman. Ngunit may pangamba ako na siya ang matanggal this week. Huwag naman sana. :] Isa siyang bersyon ni Jason Castro. :)

At wala akong pakialam kay Warren, magbigay man siya ng maayos o out-of-this-world na performance, siya pa din ang pick namin for this week. Stay tuned bukas kung magbabago ito. Pero entertaining at ang lala kasi ng performances niya eh!

Jayann Bautista. Iha! Dahan-dahan lang. Huwag mo kaming sigawan! Though maganda ang boses niya, mukhang palagi syang pasigaw! Narinig ko na ito sa isang konsyerto before with Mark Bautista at ayos naman siya kaya nakagugulat ang kanyang pagdedeteriorate sa Pinoy Idol.

Jeni Rawolle made a pretty good performance and the judges said the otherwise. WTF!? Pinoy Idol is so wrong. At nakakatuwa ang self-destruction na ito! Lagot kayo sa fans ni Jeni! HAHAHA. Anrami pa naman nila!

Mae Flores. For me, she's one of the better contestants. Meydo nag-improve ang lukring. Bumabalik na ang kanyang spunk. Mala-Wendy Valdez ito nung nasa PDA si Wendy. Maayos din naman ang pagkakakanta niya at mararamdaman mo, so okay okay na din siya.

Pinilupi, nilupi mu naman ang intunasyun mu day! Piborit pa naman kita! Piru may intunasyun ka. Hahahahaha. At sino ba nagsabing magsuot siya ng ganun, mukha siyang chimay!? Pero kahit ano pa man ang mangyari, sa round na ito, si Penelope pa din ang nag-shine. Walang nagbago.

Carol Leus-er, hala! Si Carol humahabol na kay Gretchen ah! Ang terible ng boses niya! Akala ba niya eh uunlad ang career niya if she's gonna sing a Christina Aguilera song! Oh well. Tingin ko lalagpak ang beauty ni Inday this week. Feeling ko siya ang matatanggal.

Sue Uling. Para kasing pinantahan muna ng uling ang mukha ng babaitang ito bago ipinasok sa Top 24! Maganda ang quality ng boses niya. Hindi lang siya talaga maingat sa paggamit nito, kaya nagmumukhang inconsistent ang tono sa kanya. Ayos sana siya dahil may dating, kyut at kamukha ni Juris, pero kung patuloy ang lagpak performances niya, di siya magtatagal. Para siyang pinaitim na version ni Roselle Nava na kumakanta ng Kaba ni Tootsie Guevara!

Gretchen Espina. The song is spectacular. She did quite well. Maliban sa mga shifting! Ang sakit sa tainga ng hingal niya at sakit din sa loob 'kapag nakikita ko siyang umiiri sa telebisyon. Sang-ayon akong nag-improve ang loka. Pero di pa din siya kagalingan! Na-eentertain naman ako sa mga Mukhasim faces when she sings. Hindi pa rin natalo ang version ni Mau Marcelo, so lagpak!

Kid vs. JJ: Warlahan mga Inday!

What the heck!?! Super warlahan naman ang Kid Camaya at JJ Jr. sa national TV. Looks like competition's heating up for the kiddos. Kid's quite the serious and KJ type kasi and JJ as Kid said, "...is too much for himself." May pagka-mayabang nga ata at may attitude ang loko, akala mo naman kagalingan kumanta.

Well, Kid's not sintunado. JJ's horrible at performances. Ampanget pa ng pangalan niya. Like super infinity na ang J sa pangalan niya. Even GMA wala nang maisip na ikagaganda pa ng pangalan niya, tapos inarte pa!

Well, its just simple eh. Respetuhan lang yan.

Baklaan lang 'yan. No offense meant ah. Pero 'yun lang yata ang hanap ng dalawa eh. HAHAHAHA.

Baka kaya init ng ulo niyo sa isa't isa dahil type niyo ang each other.

Napatagalog tuloy ako.

Update: Sa mga nagsasabing TOP 14 ang magpeperform sa Sabado, hindi daw ito totoo. Top 7 guys daw sa Saturday at Top 7 girls sa Friday. Okay, okay!? Ayon yan sa reliable source, kaya maniwala na kayo. O sige. Iboto ang Lagpak! Abangan si Warren at Gretchen this weekened and don't forget to vote them.

PS: Mukhang malapit na si JJ sa listahan ng VFTWP ah. Pero wala pa ding tatalo kay Gretchen sa girls. Well, we just don't pick the worst. We want to pick those who are entertaining too, in short, pwedeng pagtawanan. O siya, alis na ang Lagpakerz. :-)

Well, here's an updated list of the song choices... So, let's discuss them shall we?

Shniffer Rei will be singing another (oh, can't we get tired of this?) rock version of whatchamacallit song of Edwin McCain. Insecurobby Navarro has chosen another ballad, so I'm expecting he'll be another disappointment (for us, 'cause he's gonna give us another flawless performance) *yawns*. JJ Jr. (getting annoyed with the name with infinite J's in it, GMA couldn't even think of anymore names for his lame name, no? Like Joselindo Pimpinio Jr. was changed in a rather worse name, JJ Jr.) will sing a Luther Vandross song? Oh no! Looks like he wants to top our Lagpakerz list this week. There is no doubt in my mind that Daryl Celis will be dancing to the tune of Right Here Waiting, and everybody's excited. Duh. Kid Camaya (the only possible matino among the guys) chose another boring song. Well, IbotoAngLagpak team would be very happy if he goes home, lesser goody-goody contestants for Pinoy Idol. And Ramboo Chaves chose a Creed song. What's new?

A Success: Meryl and Walton Out

Two of the remaining goodies in the competition exited the show last night, it's no surprise as Walton Zerrudo and Meryl David got the boot.

Meryl's lack of looks and personality got the best of her. Her performance last Saturday was okay and one of the best ones. Though one of the most consistent ones in the competition, Meryl, who confessed that Lauryn Hill mostly influences her music style, was voted out last night. She sang Killing Me Softly.

Even if the judges gave the hype to Walton Zerrudo, he still lost his way to stardom. Even owning the night last Friday, Walton received the lowest number of votes along with Kid and Toffer in the Bottom 3.

Along with Meryl in the bottom three were the best of the performance night: Mae Flores and Jeni Rawolle.

Comments. It's actually suspicious since they only eliminated two this round (one male, one female). Can't they afford Kid, Toffer, Jeni, or Mae (some of the better contestants) to leave the show?

If they want their show to get lots of votes, they should stage the show better. But four weeks on the running, their stage, music, judges and host, still sucks.

Looks like, a lot of Pinoy Idol watchers wants the show in full blast doom. Well, it would be great since they'll be helping Iboto ang Lagpak in serving GMA 7 the worst Idol possible. It reflects tonight's eliminations. Or maybe because this batch is full of crap, they'd rather go for looks than talent!? What do you think?
